Trailblazer was commissioned by JazzHers as the inaugural ComposersHers work and is dedicated to educator, director, and trailblazer Lisa Linde for her leadership in creating more inclusive spaces in jazz. Built on a laid-back 16th-note R&B groove inspired by Anderson .Paak's “Celebrate,” Trailblazer blends spirited energy with opportunities for improvisation, dynamic ensemble playing, and moments to enjoy Ayn Inserto's expressive horn writing.
Though much of the rhythm section parts are written out, performers should feel license to ad lib according to their abilities.

5 saxes/4 trumpets/4 trombones/guitar, piano, bass, drums
Included: optional parts for vibraphone (2 mallet & 4 mallet versions), flute/violin, clarinet in Bb, horn in F, oboe, and bassoon)
Open solos are offered for the entire ensemble (imrpov resource included)
Highest note for lead trumpet = Concert Bb5 (written high C)
Highest note for lead trombone = Concert G4
