Written for Allison Miller’s close friend, the dynamic performer Toshi Reagon, Big & Lovely launches with big impact and unfolds through twists and turns, moments of suspense, and bursts of joy. Anchored by a funky hip-hop groove with swung sixteenth notes, the piece balances grit and playfulness and constantly shifting in color and energy. The title track of Miller’s collaboration with the UNT One O’Clock Lab Band, Big & Lovely is arranged here by Jeff Lederer.
